International Fellowships on Climate Change & Sustainable Development

Climate Change and Energy Security constitute some of the most pertinent challenges of our times. While these topics are likely to seem technical on a preliminary view,  the gamut of conservation and mitigation measures offer a promising career path besides being highly interesting. A degree in climate study opens up a plethora of opportunities, in policy and development sector and is widely supported by the academia to encourage the students and workers to take up these studies. Here’s a list of a few such fellowships, dedicated specifically to this field

1.International Climate Protection Fellowships:

Fellows can choose an issue ranging from scientific, engineering-based, legal, economic, health-related or social aspects of climate change scientific, engineering-based, legal, economic, health-related or social aspects of climate change and avail an opportunity to spend a year in Germany, researching about the same. Fellows can choose their hosts and the program encourages participation from developing and non-European countries.

2.Leadership for Sustainable Development :
Marks & Spencer is partnering with  not for profit organisation Forum for the Future for this award. High performing graduates under this program, get an opportunity to work with the coveted retail giant. The 10 month long programme debuts this year and is guaranteed to continue for at least the following two years

3. Climate Fellowship-Echoing Green Fellowships:
The fellowship targets social entrepreneurs intending to pursue a project/study/initiative in the field of climate change. The owners of creative ideas receive a seed stage grant aided by Echoing Green and ZOOM Foundation.

4WWF Prince Bernhard Scholarships for Nature Conservation

6. IPCC Scholarship Programme:
Candidates pursuing a PhD at a university of their choice or who have an offer of admission to PhD, can apply for this scholarship. The programme is specially focused on scholars from developing countries working on the following area(s): climate and water, climate and ocean, underlying science of climate change, socio- economic modelling related to climate change.

7. Doctoral Fellowship Programme (The Energy Policy Institute, University of Chicago)
