In 2014, IT equipment in government establishments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) consumed approximately 2.2 billion kWh. This is expected to increase to 2.36 billion kWh in FY19. It is estimated that the procurement of energy efficient IT equipment can generate a cumulative energy savings potential of 1.55 -2.85 billion kWh, which is equivalent to carbon dioxide emission reductions of 1.5-2.7 million tonnes by 2019.
