The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) revised the environmental standards for coal-based thermal power stations in 2015. The deadline to meet the standards passed in 2017. As the industry fell short of achieving full compliance, the deadline was extended till 2021-22 for over 70% of the total capacity. This report, prepared in consultation with industry experts and equipment manufacturers, tracks progress made by power plants towards compliance by capturing the key steps and milestones necessary to achieve the desired results.
