Doubling the Rate of Energy Efficiency of Indian Industry by 2030

Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation joined a Stakeholders Roundtable Discussion convened by FICCI in collaboration with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) in New Delhi on April 10, 2024. The event featured the launch of a knowledge Paper focusing on the goal of ‘Doubling the Energy Efficiency Rate of Indian Industries by 2030.’

Bansi Shukla, Senior Programme Manager, Industry, Buildings & Cooling, participated as a speaker in the event, where she said, “We can serve as valuable partners in bridging the gap between policy development and implementation at the sub-national level. By acting as knowledge hubs, multilateral agencies connect technology providers with the right platforms, promote innovative energy efficiency solutions, and encourage the adoption of proven strategies. We can also conduct comprehensive research on best practices and develop model guidelines that states can adopt, facilitating a more standardised approach to energy efficiency across the country. Shakti has been at the forefront of these initiatives, actively supporting programs that catalyse the uptake of energy-efficient solutions. For example, we are in process of developing an Integrated Energy Efficiency Marketplace and an IT tool for EESL, which has streamlined the availability of energy-efficient solutions in the market. Furthermore, Shakti has been instrumental in supporting state governments in realising their potential for adopting green hydrogen from a demand-side perspective. By facilitating access to this clean energy source, we are helping to create a more sustainable and efficient energy future for India.”

The dialogue centered on the necessary investments for achieving a doubling of industrial energy efficiency by 2030. Key stakeholders deliberated on various aspects, including the challenges and potential solutions for industries in enhancing energy efficiency, technological innovations to drive efficiency, and the path forward in terms of financing energy efficiency initiatives.
