Shakti, in Collaboration with TERI and CALSTART Supported ZEV Technology Showcase as Knowledge Partner at the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial/8th Mission Innovation

Under the aegis of CEM14/MI-8, a Technology and Cultural showcase was organised at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa from Jul. 19-22, 2023. The Technology Showcase featured new and emerging technologies like Electric Vehicles, Hydrogen, and other clean technologies from across the world. The key partners involved in organising Technology Showcase were  Department of Science and Technology, Clean Energy Ministerial Drive to Zero Campaign, SIAM, CALSTART, TERI and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation as Knowledge Partner.

Energy Transition Ministerial Meeting (ETMM), highlights cutting-edge innovations like electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cells, and other clean fuel technologies.

The Technology Showcase was a key element of the Clean Energy Ministerial & Mission Innovation meetings that showcased new and emerging technologies like Electric Vehicle, hydrogen, and other clean fuel technologies across the globe in various sectors and provide unique experience.

The key partners involved in organising Technology Showcase are Department of Science and Technology, Clean Energy Ministerial Drive to Zero Campaign, SIAM, CALSTART, TERI and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (Knowledge Partner).

The ZEV Technology Showcase of the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial/ 8th Mission Innovation was inaugurated by Goa’s Honourable Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium. Senior dignitaries, including Shri Sudin Dhavalikar, Minister of Power, Goa ,Bureau of Energy efficiency were present. Shakti,  in collaboration with  TERI and CALSTART supported the ZEV Technology Showcase for Buses and Trucks as a Knowledge partner. The technology display, which took place concurrently with the G20 india  Energy Transition Ministerial Meeting (ETMM), highlights cutting-edge innovations like electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cells, and other clean fuel.

On the margins of the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial and Working Group Meetings, the 14th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and 8th Mission Innovation (MI) meeting (CEM14/MI-8) was held in Goa during 19th to 21st of July, 2023, . The CEM / MI Ministerial Meeting was held on 21st July, 2023, under the chairpersonship of Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shri R. K. Singh. Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, was the vice-chair of the CEM/MI meeting. The theme of CEM14/MI-8 is ‘Advancing Clean Energy Together.’

This year, the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and Mission Innovation (MI) meetings brought  together governments, international organisations, private sector, academia, innovators, civil society, early career researchers and policymakers over a four-day program featuring high-level ministerial dialogues, global initiative launches, award announcements, minister-CEO roundtables and a wide array of side-events cutting across diverse themes of clean energy transition. CEM14 / MI8 also featured a public-facing technology showcase demonstrating cutting-edge advances in clean energy from India and around the world.

Shakti Participation in the Official Side-event: An Economy-wide Quantified Goal on Energy Efficiency in India

In an side event, part of the official side event during the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM 14) and Mission Innovation (MI8) Goa, Trupti Deshpande, Senior Programme Manager, Electric mobility, Shakti, participated as a panellist in the session ‘An Economy-wide Quantified Goal on Energy Efficiency in India’  where she focused on the need to make transport sector energy efficient given the 90% emission contribution from road transport. She put forth that increasing efficiency in transport sector can be achieved via stringent fuel efficiency norms, switching to clean transport like electric vehicles. Electric vehicles are ~70% efficient whereas ICE vehicles are only ~30% efficient.

“Working towards efficient transport will also require spreading awareness at the grass-root level, not only for increased adoption but also for good practices that will enhance energy efficiency”, added Trupti Deshpande.
