ICCT, in collaboration with India’s G20 Secretariat and the Business 20 (B20), the official G20 dialogue forum with the global business community organised the ‘India Clean Transportation Summit’, on August 28, 2023. The central aim of this summit was to spark impactful dialogues and forge pathways towards the imperative decarbonisation of India’s road transport sector. The summit saw presence of many esteemed professionals and government officials including Mr Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa; Mr Sudhendu Sinha, Advisor, NITI Aayog; Mr Ashish Kundra, Transport Commissioner Delhi; SK Bagde, Add. Secy. MoHUA, and many high level delegates from the industry and academia.
Trupti Deshpande, Senior Programme Manager, Shakti, was invited as a speaker at the event. She highlighted the role of philanthropy in realising clean transportation in India. While emphasising on the need for updated on-ground data, she mentioned that policy innovation through evidence based research is the key to seamless, clean and affordable mobility.
“When Non-motorised transport, public transport meets electric mobility, together they build a clean transportation system. This requires well planned infrastructure, relevant on-ground data, and implementation strategies. Policy innovation through evidence based research is key-stone can hold together all these pieces to make a beautiful arch of seamless, clean, and affordable mobility system.” said said Trupti Deshpande at the summit.
