The India Cold Chain Conclave, Himalayan Chapter was organised by the National Centre for Cold Chain Development (NCCD) in collaboration with the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PHDCCI) at Kashmir International Convention Centre, Srinagar, J&K on September 20th, 2023.
The conclave brought together stakeholders in the Cold Chain Industry including government officials, industry experts, investors, and entrepreneurs to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities in the sector. The conclave aimed at contributing to the global efforts towards sustainable development by promoting sustainable practices in the cold chain industry. In one of the technical panel discussions on ‘Energy Efficient Technologies & Energy Transition’, Dr Sachin Kumar – Director of Industry, Buildings & Cooling Programme at Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation highlighted the development of an integrated sustainable cold value chain. Integrating passive design aspects, enhancing energy efficiency, RE integration, and improving market linkages across the cold value chain are key potential levers to reduce food losses and enable access to clean cooling solutions, he emphasised.
