Shakti Provides Support to EVfying Last Mile Freight in the UT of Ladakh

As part of IIEC’s ‘Technical Assistance for Identification of Opportunities and Challenges in Freight Electrification in Leh-Ladakh’, Narayankumar Sreekumar and Priti Shukla of the Electric Mobility team of Shakti, took part in the event that served as the official kickoff for ‘EVfying last mile freight in the UT of Ladakh’.

The session on ‘Technical Assistance for Identification of Opportunities and Challenges in Freight Electrification’ was opened by the Secretary of Transport for UT Ladakh, Shri Amit Sharma (IAS). Amit Sharma who spoke at the flag-off and praised the work of the technical assistance team for the decarbonisation of the goods segment, which directly aided in the mission of the Carbon Neutral Ladakh Plan. The event was attended by the Deputy Director of Motor Garages, UT Ladakh Dr Zulfiqar Ali (KAS); ARTO Officer, Leh & Kargil; heads of different transport associations; and the technical team of IIEC.

Shri Amit Sharma flagged off the electric vehicle for its trial run. Attendees were treated to an impressive showcase as they observed the trial run and received a comprehensive demonstration of these cutting-edge electric freight vehicles.

“The journey to a carbon neutral Ladakh is challenging, but the path we have set upon is illuminated by innovation, collaboration, and a collective commitment to securing a sustainable future. The demand for freight transport will surge exponentially. By electrifying our freight sector, we can significantly contribute to the decarbonisation of Ladakh’s transport sector, making our vision of a carbon neutral Ladakh a reality”, said Narayankumar Sreekumar, Associate Director, Electric Mobility, Shakti as a panellist at a workshop on ‘EVfying last mile freight in the UT of Ladakh’ as part of our ongoing project with IIEC –‘Technical Assistance for identification of opportunities and challenges in freight electrification in Leh-Ladakh’.
