Training Program on Solar Energy for International Solar Alliance (ISA)

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) recently awarded a project to NTPC School of Business (NSB) – NTPC Ltd to conduct a series of 10 training programmes on solar energy for ISA member country’s government officials from the energy, rural development, agriculture departments etc. They invited Narayankumar Sreekumar, Associate Director, Electric Mobility, Shakti, to deliver the session on the topic Solar powered Electrical Mobility. Sixty participants from thirteen African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo were in the Indian capital to learn of India’s success in planning & implementation of solar energy generation facilities. During the training program on Solar Energy for International Solar Alliance (ISA) member country participants on Feb 21, 2023, Narayan highlighted that mineral resources and policy environment in the African regions can be capitalised on to attract investments into charging infrastructure installation, development of off-grid renewable energy sources for charging, and procurement and deployment of electric buses. He also explained that electric buses deployment will aid in spreading awareness and financial incentives will have significant positive impact on the market for EVs, especially electric 2 and 3-wheelers.
