On January 30, 2024, the Clean Power team of Shakti organised its third session as part of the Annual Work Planning Workshops on ‘State Level Initiatives for Clean Energy Transition.’ The event aimed at fostering discussions and collaborations towards achieving clean energy goals.
The session gathered experts from various sectors, including CSO Partner organisations, academia, industry professionals, and consulting partners. Together, they delved into the challenges and barriers hindering the implementation of clean energy initiatives at the state level in India. Participants exchanged ideas and explored innovative strategies to accelerate the transition towards clean energy.
The event highlighted the crucial role of state-level initiatives in complementing the national targets set by the Government of India, such as reaching 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. It emphasised the need for active participation from states to translate climate commitments into tangible actions on the ground.
Discussions revolved around the complexities of aligning state-specific objectives with national energy goals, considering factors like financial constraints, regulatory frameworks, and infrastructure limitations. The workshop aimed to identify state-specific issues and brainstorm solutions to overcome existing bottlenecks in renewable energy implementation.
The event not only provided a platform for experts from various backgrounds to exchange insights and build networks but also underscored the significance of stakeholder collaboration in overcoming the hurdles of incorporating renewable energy sources into the current power grid.
