Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation Convened a ‘Strategic Roundtable on Milestones for India’s Energy and Food Systems Transition’ as a prelude to the Annual Work Planning Workshop on January 10, 2024, at Ambassador, New Delhi. The participants included senior members of Shakti’s partner organisations and stakeholders.
After the opening Remarks and Context Setting by Shakti, the first session was on the theme Climate Ambition. In anticipation of the upcoming revision of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement in 2025, this session explored what India’s updated NDC should look like from an economy-wide and sectoral perspective. There was a short input presentation followed by presentations by several illustrious people in the field. This opened into a roundtable discussion by all participants. The discussion was robust and interactive with many interesting and productive points of view put forth on the subject.
The next session on the theme Climate Action, revolved around India’s energy and food systems transition. The next 12-18 months are going to be crucial for this transition and the discussion was aimed at understanding the key milestones that the CSO community should target at the national and subnational levels to support India’s climate action as well as to raise ambition for the energy and food systems transition. This session saw constructive input from all the participants.
The Roundtable ended with a MEL Training Update by Shakti who plans to facilitate Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) trainings for its partners in the first half of 2024.
