The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) organised ‘Global Wind Day’ on June 15, 2024, aimed at celebrating the glorious success of the Indian Wind Sector so far and discussing the potential way forward for accelerating wind energy adoption in India. The event held at The Lalit, New Delhi, was convened by Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (Shakti) in collaboration with the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA), Wind Independent Power Producers Associations (WIPPA), and Solar Power Developers Association (SPDA). With a central theme of “Pawan–Urja: Powering the Future of India”, the event successfully conducted 3 panel discussions on ‘Role of Wind Energy in Meeting the Power Demand’, ‘Accelerating Onshore Wind Energy Adoption in India’, and ‘Offshore Wind Development in India: Bolstering India’s Energy Security’ and a photo exhibition on evolution of wind energy in India over the years.

The event witnessed active participation from central and state government authorities and policymakers, technology developers and industry players, international and domestic financial institutions, CPSUs, academia, think tanks, and other key stakeholders. Shakti coordinated with MNRE and industry associations to send invites to approximately 500 guests, with about 250 participants attending.
